Squat Stands

Welcome to our website. Here you will be able to find suppliers of all types of Squat Stands from simple home gyms to professional equipment.

The squat is probably one of the most effective workout exercises, helping to strengthen and increase some of the largest and most important muscle groups of your body: your legs. But do squat stands help? Are they really what you need? Or are they just another over sized piece of equipment to get in the way, causing more hassle than they’re worth?

In this article we’ll look at some of the advantages and disadvantages of squat stands to ultimately decide if they’re right for you:

The Ups

The first benefit of a squat stand, is that it allows you to get in position easier. If you’re using the barbell behind you to do squats, then it’s a lot less difficult to get in position if the barbell is already off the ground, especially if it’s a very large weight for you.

The biggest benefit to owning set of squat stands is that they do make performing squats safer. That’s what they’re designed for after all – to prevent you injuring yourself. And for that purpose, they’re great. They allow you to workout with maximum intensity without worrying that you’re going to get caught out.

They’re also good in that they’re not too restrictive. The trouble with a lot of work out machinery and equipment is that sometimes they can be too restrictive and “controlled”. Working out with free weights tend to give you the best result as they allow you to exercise your smaller muscles as you balance and stabilize the weights. Squat stands are good because they allow you to still use free weights whilst giving you the safety assurance of equipment.

They’re also pretty mobile and aren’t as dominating as much larger machines and equipment, which is a big benefit if you’re more restricted by space.

Another good thing is that they’re relatively cheap! But are there other costs involved? Let’s find out:

The Downs

Squat stands are a lot less versatile than other fitness equipment. They’re not really suitable if you bench press often, and unlike some other fitness equipment and machinery, if you want to do pull-ups then you’ll need to buy a pull-up bar separately, adding to the cost.

And although better than nothing, they are less safe than more substantial pieces of machinery. Unless you use saw horses as pins to catch the bar, then you’ll have to drop the bar at times when you get stuck, and if you are going to be dropping the bar often then you’ll need to invest in bumper plates, which again, drives up cost.

The Verdict

So overall, the benefits do out way the disadvantages. But it ultimately depends on your situation. If you’ve got the budget, you may be better of getting a bigger piece of equipment to help you with your workouts, but it’s up to you to really decide if squat stands are what you need. It’s definitely worth having a look around at a lot of websites to see is what’s on offer though. There are a variety of companies that offer equipment that is suitable for a multitude of different work out exercises, so take the time to visit a number of websites to see what’s available.
